Immigrant Domestic Abuse Project
We provide legal representation for abused immigrants - women, children, and men - and work to achieve permanent legal residency for victims of domestic violence. In 1988, we organized the Advocates for Immigrant Women (AIW), a state-wide coalition of legal and social services agencies, in response to changes in immigration law that trapped many immigrants in abusive marriages beause of a fear of deportation. We continue to provide key leadership as AIW works to effectively address the needs of abused immigrants.
